Child Suffers Burn Personal Injuries in Jacksonville Florida Fire

In the Winter Months, fires are more prevalent in Jacksonville and other cities. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Jacksonville Fire Rescue and the State Fire’s Marshall’s Office are investigating a fire that took place on the Westside of Jacksonville. It was reported that a 3 year old child suffered serious personal injuries / burns as a result of a fire in a mobile home. The fire took place at approximately 1:40 p.m. The girl was transported to Shands at the University of Florida – Gainesville for treatment. In Citra, Florida, it was reported that five children recently died in a house fire of a small wooden home. The incident is being investigated by the Florida State Fire Marshall’s Office. Power Line Electrocution Ends Life of Good Samaritan (David Katterhenry)

A Good Samaritan from Jacksonville, Florida was tragically killed by electric shock after he touched power lines that had been downed by a motorist the Good Samaritan was trying to help. The motorist was a 19-year-old woman. The accident occurred during the morning when the woman swerved to miss a deer causing her to strike a power pole, splitting the pole in half. The power pole was carrying more than 14,400 volts of electricity. Dangers of Power Lines and Electrocution in Florida

Antonio Martinez, a South Floridian man who is originally from Pinar del Rico, Cuba, is apparently dead after being electrocuted while he was attempting to pick mangoes from a fruit tree in his back yard. Martinez was climbing a ladder and using an aluminum picker to grab the fruit, when the pole touched a nearby power line. The tree stood about 30-feet and, apparently, the aluminum ladder Martinez was using touched a nearby power line. Martinez’s daughter and her mother heard the fall.
